Every American is fully aware of how hard it can be to obtain quality healthcare in this country. Costs are quickly rising beyond most families' financial means which makes getting sick these days quite scary indeed. Express Scripts is a prescription insurance company which has long partnered with Walgreens' neighborhood pharmacies in order to offer their members a convenient, low-cost option to obtaining prescription medications.
Unfortunately, as described in the recent article concerning Walgreens and Express Script, this partnership has ended as of January 1, 2012 with Walgreens no longer being a part of Express Scripts' pharmacy provider network. In an effort to minimize any disruption and inconvenience to their customers, Walgreens unveiled the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club so that patients can continue to use Walgreens pharmacies when possible, because now they are being forced to use Express Scripts' in-network coverage. Please check with your local Walgreens pharmacist to find out for sure if you are impacted by this change.
An individual can join the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club during January for a special rate of only $5, or receive a family membership for $10. This membership club provides savings on more than 8,000 brand name and generic medications. More than 400 generic prescriptions are available with a three-month supply costing less than $1 per week. You'll even receive discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies, along with bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services. The regular price for a Walgreens Prescription Savings Club membership is $20 for an individual and $35 for a family.
