The Best Way to Entertain the Kiddos While on a Long Trip

5/5 - (1 vote)

"Are we there yet?"  With Spring Break right around the corner, are you already dreading this inevitable question from your children?  I'll be the first to admit that a long plane or car ride is not necessarily an enjoyable experience, but when your children get antsy to get somewhere, the trip definitely takes a turn for the worst.

I have a four-year-old who does not quite get the concept of time yet, so when we go on vacation, it's best to keep her as entertained and occupied as possible.  Now I could plant her in front of a movie or video game, but I'd prefer something a tad less electronic and a bit more stimulating.  Leave it to Barron's to create an entire series of fun and amazing books no family trip should be without!

In The Horse and Pony Creativity Book, kids learn how to draw horses, construct the pony rosettes that are given as prizes at horse shows, play a horse racing game, use stickers to create a pony camp picture, and more. This title in Barron's growing list of Creativity Books is filled with fun projects to keep kids cheerfully occupied on rainy days, on lengthy car trips, or during quiet time at home.  This fun-filled book includes:

  • Games, puzzles, stencils, sticker sheets, and an illustrated gatefold page for sticker decorating
  • Special pull-out art paper and art projects to complete
  • Pages for coloring
  • Fun-to-answer quizzes

Vacations mean travel, and kids can travel in their imaginations to the seashore, the country, or to faraway cities like Paris. This activity book gives them pictures to color, vacation scenes to create with stickers, puzzles to solve, and lots more!  It's packed with clever coloring pages, drawing tips and tricks, puzzles and mazes, make-and-do activities and write-in stories and games about amazing destinations.

In the Science and Inventions Creativity Book, kids discover robots and rockets, make paper airplanes that fly, and devise a flip-book movie.  They'll also find stacks of stickers to create science-theme sticker scenes, stencils, puzzles, coloring activities, and much more.  This incredible creativity book for science-mad young inventors is packed with drawing and coloring activities, plus puzzles, mazes, games and great things to make!

The final activity book I reviewed introduces kids to the wonders of nature and the great outdoors, with flowers and animals of the forest, fish of lakes and rivers, sites for camping, and much more.  Boys and girls alike will enjoy themed puzzles, games, pictures to color, and animal stickers to decorate an outdoor scene.

The Creativity Books series from Barron's is an amazing way to both entertain and educate your little ones while on the go this year.  Rainy days and long trips are no match for the boredom busting activities contained within these varied volumes.  Make sure to grab a few titles from this collection today and always have interesting exercises on hand.

Disclosure: I received the books shown above from Barron's in order to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. This product review is based on my own personal experiences with this item and is completely honest and objective.
