Review - Bring Healthy Holiday Deliciousness to the Table with Country Crock

Shedd's Spread Country CrockDuring the holidays, unhealthy (yet delicious) food choices abound!  From the ooey, gooey desserts to the fresh baked breads and decadent side dishes, the pounds seem to pile on with each passing minute.  Although a healthy diet always consists of a bounty of vegetables, there are so many other tasty options available during the holidays, that our veggie dishes typically take a back seat.

This year, let Country Crock help you have a healthy holiday with plenty of fresh vegetable side dish ideas to please your family's palette.

Country Crock and Your Favorite Veggie Recipe Combine for a Healthy Holiday

Country Crock Healthy HolidayIt's truly amazing what a dollop of Country Crock can do!  I'm not a veggie a matter of fact, I'm pretty much the exact opposite.  BUT, when I sprinkle a little salt and pepper on my veggies coupled with a bit of Country Crock, suddenly those borderline veggies taste MUCH better...and remember, this is coming from a perpetual "veggie-phobe".  Couple the fresh taste of Country Crock butter with fresh vegetables and watch even the pickiest eaters gobble them up without complaint.

What's more, I can feel good about adding Country Crock to our holiday veggie dishes for it has 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter.  It's a terrific way to add that buttery richness and flavor to a healthy dish without compromising the healthiness of what you're eating.  Of course, speaking as someone who is always watching their waistline, I appreciate anything that works WITH me and not AGAINST me!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Cauliflower

Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Cauliflower Recipe

PREP TIME: 10 minutes

COOK TIME: 25 minutes

  • 2 medium Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 cups cauliflower florets
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/3 cup 2% milk
  • 3 Tbsp. Country Crock® Spread
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped flat-leaf parsley

  1. Cover potatoes, cauliflower and garlic with water in 3-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered until vegetables are very tender, about 15 minutes; drain.
  3. Return vegetables to saucepan; mash. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Have a healthy holiday celebration this year with plenty of fresh veggie recipes garnished with Country Crock!

Argh…more GT problems. It allows me to enter some, but not all, of your giveaways. Frustrating. I find GT so smooth in some respects, but it drives me nuts that it won’t allow you to ‘be smarter’ than it is, and override its confusion, if you know what I mean. Anyway, just another ‘heads up’! :)
