Colossal Christmas Countdown:

10 Days Until Christmas!

Okay, so if you're like me, a total technology gadget junkie, then you've got an mp3 player of some sort by now.  Personally, I'm so happy that I finally have my hot little hands on an iPod Touch, but let's face it, the sound quality straight from the iPod stinks.  This makes it so that I have to use earbud speakers with my iPod at all times to enjoy my tunes.  The problem is that there are a ton of instances when I'm with my family and wish that we could all listen to the same song together.

Of course there are portable speakers out there, but I never remember to carry them with me and they always seem to take up so much room in my purse.  It seems that iMainGo was in my head and heard my problems loud and clear because they've come up with the coolest gadget that is SUPER USEFUL...the iMainGo 2!

I reviewed the iMainGo 2 Handheld Speaker Case from iMainGo, which retails for $39.99 and includes FREE SHIPPING.

iMainGo 2 Handheld Speaker Case

I have to admit that I really liked the idea behind the iMainGo 2 from the moment I saw it.  This extremely sturdy and durable handheld speaker case actually serves two functions.  First, the iMainGo 2 offers superior, custom-fit protection for your iPhone, iPod or Zune mp3 players.

The iMainGo 2 is constructed of a very hard plastic and covered in water resistant neoprene so that it can withstand anything you do to it.  Second, this small handheld speaker case is designed to deliver superb audio and play your tunes in a way that will have you in awe.  I couldn't wait for this to arrive so that I could see for myself whether the iMainGo 2 could live up to its claims.

The iMainGo 2 requires 4 "AAA" batteries for operation and thankfully, these were included with the unit.  There was also a removable nylon wrist strap included which enhances its portability.  The iMainGo 2 offers 30 hours of playtime on those 4 "AAA" batteries, which was impressive.  That's a lot of music-filled trips to the beach, parties and more you can make before ever needing to change the batteries!

It's also extremely easy to use and provides a custom-fit for any iPhone, iPod (excluding shuffles) and Zune mp3 players.  I own an iPod Touch and all that I needed to do in order to get the iMainGo 2 up and running, was plug the attached 3.5mm gold-tipped stereo plug into the headphones jack on my iPod.  Next, I placed my iPod face down into the empty side of the iMainGo and then placed the foam pad and plastic cover on top.

Finally, I secured the iPod into the case with the attached Velcro strap.  When I zip up the iMainGo 2, it looks just like the picture on the bottom.  The thin plastic of the iMainGo 2 protects my iPod's screen, while still allowing me to push the buttons and use the touchscreen.  Genius!

I have to admit that I still wasn't expecting too much as far as sound goes though.  I mean, this portable speaker case weighs only 9 ounces and is 5.7" long, so how good could the audio really be?  Well, once again, I was pleasantly surprised.  This unit sounded pretty good!  I couldn't get over how crisp and clean the highs and mids sounded.

The bass was also fairly deep and could pack a punch, although too much bass would make the audio sound a bit unclear when the volume was turned up loud, such as when listening to "Practice What You Preach" by Barry White or "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" by the Gap Band.  I have to admit though that this speaker system didn't offer as much volume as I would have liked, but it's good for listening to at comfortable levels.

If you've got a music lover on your Christmas list this year, offer them the ability to protect their iPhone, iPod or Zune AND listen to their tunes at the same time with the iMainGo 2!  This is a great handheld speaker case which is super easy to use, has a 30-hour battery life and can even be used as an external speaker system for other devices such as a Kindle, laptop, cell phone or portable gaming system.  The iMainGo 2 is super functional and a terrific design all rolled into one!
