ThinkGeek Some movie scenes just seem to stick with us, no matter how hard we may try to forget them!  One scene that falls into that category for me is the "Leg Lamp" scene from the holiday favorite, "A Christmas Story".  No matter how many times I see that movie, I always laugh during the unveiling of the infamous leg lamp.  No excuse me...it's not a lamp, it's a major award!

ThinkGeek has been bringing us the best selection in unique and geek-like gifts for any occasion and they really came through with their latest item, the 20" Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story.  Keep reading to learn more!

I received A Christmas Story 20" Leg Lamp from ThinkGeek, which retails for $39.99.

A Christmas Story 20" Leg Lamp from ThinkGeekBack in the day, we were the kids that wanted to shoot our eyes out with a Red Ryder carbine-action, 200-shot, range model air rifle with a compass in the stock.  We were the ones that endured the humiliation of having to wear the pink bunny suit (or ugly Christmas sweater, or hand-me-down neon snowsuit).  And yes, despite knowing full well what would happen, we stuck our tongues to the pole.

But now, we're the grown-ups.  We're the ones weaving a tapestry of obscenities, working in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay.  And those of us who are homeowners probably wouldn't mind a new furnace for Christmas.  But you know what would be GREAT?  A leg lamp.  Oh, look at that!  Will you look at that?  Isn't that glorious?  It's... it's... it's indescribably beautiful!

A Christmas Story 20" Leg Lamp from ThinkGeekMy husband is the biggest fan of "A Christmas Story", for his family watched this holiday movie EVERY YEAR like clockwork.  For him, it just wouldn't be Christmas without "A Christmas Story" on TV.  He's secretly and not-so-secretly yearned to own the tacky leg lamp in this holiday movie and agrees that it's indescribably beautiful too.  So what better way to kick off the Christmas season then with this gorgeous fishnet stocking wearing leg in high heels complete with fringed lampshade?

The 20" Leg Lamp from ThinkGeek actually lights up in two places: under the shade and within the lamp itself.  It plugs in to any electrical outlet and uses a 40 watt A-15 bulb as well as a 5 watt C bulb.  The smaller 5 watt bulb is included with the 20" Leg Lamp while the 40 watt bulb is not.  The plastic leg sits on a dark plastic base and even has a genuine fishnet stocking on it.

Although the lamp lights up in the leg itself, it didn't light up the whole leg, but rather just the calf area.  Judging from the instructions that came with the lamp, this 5 watt bulb looks fairly challenging to replace once it burns out and so I will probably just leave the leg unlit once the bulb goes ka-put.

Michael was beside himself with glee when he received this major award for him to proudly display AT WORK!  Now he can terrorize all of his co-workers with this oh-so-tacky, yet timeless miniature of the original leg lamp from "A Christmas Story".  If you have a huge fan of the holiday film, "A Christmas Story", then I highly recommend giving a slice of sexy to them too with the 20" Leg Lamp from ThinkGeek!
