Learning Resources My daughter loves building toys of all kinds and comes up with some rather imaginative creations, especially as she continues to grow.  Of course, I love encouraging her creativity and problem-solving skills with toys like this, which also help keep her away from the endless distractions that television and computers often bring.

Learning Resources is one of my favorite go-to suppliers for educational children's toys and they've recently taken a classic building toy and put a whole new spin on it.  What we know of as Tinker Toys have now been magically transformed into a candy-themed construction set.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the Candy Construction Building Set from Learning Resources, which retails for $34.99.

Building has never been so fun!  Use the candy-shaped pieces to build all kinds of twisty, swirly, colorful creations.  The giant gumdrops, swirled candy sticks, big block connectors and jumbo candy pieces help develop fine motor skills and following directions, and also encourage creative, constructive play.  The Learning Resources Candy Construction 92-piece set includes:

  • Learning Resources Candy Construction Building Set8 Large Swirl Sticks
  • 8 Medium Swirl Sticks
  • 16 Small Swirl Sticks
  • 4 Bendy Twists
  • 8 Green Connectors
  • 8 Blue Connectors
  • 4 Chocolate Panels
  • 8 Green Swirl Connectors
  • 8 Red Swirl Connectors
  • 4 Orange Drops
  • 4 Purple Drops
  • 4 Red Disks
  • 4 Green Disks
  • 4 Yellow Disks

What's more, the Candy Construction Building Set comes complete with an awesome instruction booklet filled with plenty of ideas to get your little one's creative juices going.  Riley and I couldn't wait to get started building the Candy Cottage, and because the instructions contained large, colorful pictures, Riley was able to follow them perfectly.  There are four detailed designs on the inside of the booklet with many more ideas illustrated on the back.  This is the perfect springboard which will inspire your child to create something magnificent of their own.

Learning Resources Candy Construction Building SetGenerally, we loved this building toy from Learning Resources, though there was one snag we ran into a few times.  The pieces of the Candy Construction Building Set are made from a durable plastic, but because of this, the fit between parts isn't always ideal.

Sometimes it took some muscle to wedge certain pieces together and other times, the structures we built fell apart a little too easily.  My daughter, who's just 3.5 years old, found her inadequate patience level tested a few times because of this.

Other than that, I highly recommend the Learning Resources Candy Construction Building Set.  My daughter greatly enjoys this toy and spends hours creating anything and everything her little heart desires.  If you're looking for a thoroughly "sweet" way to build and play, then be sure to check this construction set out!

I'm a former 7th grade Science teacher turned stay-at-home mom that lives in Houston, Texas. I am married to my college sweetheart and have a beautiful daughter named Riley, who definitely keeps me on my toes! I am also involved in starting a small business which would both manufacture and sell an invention that I've patented, called Toothpaste 2 Go. I love interacting with my readers and hope to learn as much about you as you learn about me!
