Learning ResourcesThere's no denying the wide variety of toys that are on the market today for young children.  But as a parent, I do my best to make sure that every toy Riley plays with contains a degree of educational value too.  Toddlers and preschoolers are soaking up the world around them like a sponge, which is why I love introducing toys to Riley that promote valuable skills to better prepare her for school.

Such is the case with the Super Sorting Pie from Learning Resources.  This tasty dish is chocked full of fun activities for sorting, counting and color recognition.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the Super Sorting Pie from Learning Resources, which retails for $27.99 with FREE SHIPPING.

Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie

The Super Sorting Pie from Learning Resources offers tots a delicious and fun way to reinforce early math skills.  There are plenty of great activities which help foster sorting, counting and color recognition skills, as well as number sense, patterning and beginning addition and subtraction.

The pie has a removable sorting tray that allows children to sort and count many different ways.  Jumbo tweezers are also included to help little hands develop fine motor skills while engaging in early math practice.  This 68-piece set includes the following:

  • 3-Piece Super Sorting Pie
  • 60 Fruit Counters
  • 3 Double-Sided Activity Cards
  • 2 Jumbo Tweezers

Being silly with the fruit manipulatives

There are so many ways to play with the Super Sorting Pie and all of them are a great deal of fun.  For instance, you can use the activity cards in your pie plate to sort the fruit counters in a variety of ways.  You can match the exact same fruits together outside of the pie plate and count the number of matches.

You can even randomly grab a fruit, say its name and its color and challenge your child to pick its match from the pie plate using the tweezers.  The possibilities are endless and the included activity booklet gives even more ideas for educational play with the Super Sorting Pie.

Riley LOVED the Super Sorting Pie!

Riley and I had a blast playing with the Super Sorting Pie, for we compared and contrasted the different fruit, tried making different patterns with the counters and then, to be silly, just pretended eating them too!  One of my favorite features of this toy is how the activity cards all store neatly in the bottom of the tray and there's still plenty of room for the tweezers and fruit counters to store inside the pie itself.  Clean up is a breeze and Riley enjoyed making sure all of the fruit was in the pie when we were finished playing with it.

If you have a child ages 3 and up, then I definitely recommend the Super Sorting Pie from Learning Resources.  This toy is the perfect combination of fun coupled with educational value that I'm always on the lookout for.
