I'm definitely an outdoor girl by nature. I LOVE camping, fishing, hiking, riding bikes and the like. Unfortunately though, sleeping under the stars and getting back to nature can also be one huge pain in the neck...literally!
Some of my most sleepless nights have passed while camping in the wilderness, simply because sleeping bags are usually not very comfortable. There is little room to move about and a few tosses and turns during the night will often leave you in a tangled heap. Thankfully, Selk'bag USA has created the solution for maximum mobility and comfort while "roughing it". Keep reading to learn more!
The Selk'bag is a unique sleepwear system, which is very much like a sleeping bag, but is SO much better. I had the chance to review the Selk'bag 3G Adult Sleepwear System and was thrilled as soon as I saw it! Like a sleeping bag, the Selk'bag has baffled construction, which eliminates cold spots, as well as a super soft, yet durable, nylon shell with a water-resistant finish. But that's where the comparison to a sleeping bag ends, because the Selk'bag also contains:
- Reinforced nylon soles which help prevent wear and lateral grips for maximum traction on a variety of surfaces
- Leg vents to moderate temperature
- Reversible hand zippers
- Double front entry zippers and a right hip zipper
- Insulated draft tubes around zippers and neck to prevent cold spots around the selk'bag's openings
- Hood with adjustable drawstring for maximum warmth
- Interior mp3 pocket
Now that's one versatile sleepwear system! With the Selk'bag, you can easily walk about and move freely, both at night while trying to sleep, as well as during the day. It is recommended to be used in temperatures around 45 degrees Fahrenheit for maximum comfort, though can also be used in extreme temperatures as low as 9 degrees Fahrenheit.
As you can see from the pictures above, the Selk'bag is exactly the same size as a typical sleeping bag, but once unfolded, it looks more like a large padded snowsuit. I couldn't get over how soft and plush the Selk'bag 3G Adult was and thought that it felt very luxurious and comfortable to wear.
It wasn't bulky or heavy, so I was able to move about freely and with ease. I also appreciated how many zippers there were, including the leg vents, which could be individually opened to allow for greater airflow. Sleeping bags definitely don't allow you the ability to regulate your own body temperature like this, making the Selk'bag perfect to use both day and night.
The Selk'bag was constructed remarkably well and seemed able to withstand anything the wilderness could bring! I also tried taking a quick nap on the lawn to try it out and have to admit that the Selk'bag was just as comfortable as sleeping in my own bed at night. I could easily roll around and get in any sleeping position I desired, all while staying perfectly warm and cozy.
There are so many wonderful uses for the Selk'bag 3G Adult that I couldn't possibly name them all, but here's a few that immediately sprang to mind:
- Football games or while tailgating
- Outdoor gatherings when the weather turns uncomfortably cold
- Keep in your car in case the heater ever goes out!
If you love the outdoors too and are looking for a more mobile and more comfortable sleeping bag, then I highly recommend the Selk'bag 3G Adult from Selk'bag USA. This sleepwear system has so many bells and whistles, coupled with rugged durability and maximum coziness, that you will never want to use an ordinary sleeping bag again!
