PBS KidsIf your family is a fan of PBS Kids, then you've probably heard of the extremely popular children's show, Super Why!.  My daughter is a huge fan of Super Why! and the rest of the super readers and loves to tune in to their daily adventures where they solve problems using the power to read.

I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy watching this series with her and we frequently act out the parts of Alpha Pig, Princess Presto and Wonder Red as well as sing along to the super catchy theme song!  Recently, PBS Kids hosted an hour-long Super Why! extravaganza whereby the super readers solved problems as they traveled around the world.

If you weren't lucky enough to catch it on television, never fear.  Just make sure to pick up the Super Why! Around the World Adventure DVD instead!

I reviewed the Super Why! Around the World Adventure DVD from PBS Kids, which retails for $12.99, but is currently on sale for $9.47 with FREE SHIPPING.

Super Why Around the World Adventure

Reading is power and Super Why! helps kids learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures.  In the Super Why! Around the World Adventures DVD, not only will your children learn essential reading, spelling and alphabet skills, they'll also be exposed to geography and different cultures.

There are three episodes included on this 90-minute DVD.  Here's a brief synopsis of all three episodes:

Super Why! Around the World Adventure DVDAround the World Adventure - With the help of their teacher, Whyatt and his friends have contacted a girl from another school over the computer, but they wonder where she lives. The super readers take a trip around the world with a wacky explorer name Wigglesbottom who is on the hunt for his friend Sophie. Will they be able to help Wigglesbottom find his friend, or will they be destined to travel the globe indefinitely?

Naila and the Magic Map - Pig and his friends are playing when they find what looks like an Egyptian treasure map, but they can't make out the symbols! To search for some answers, the super readers soar into the book Naila and the Magic Map and explore the world of ancient Egypt. Will they be able to help Naila unravel the mysterious code that will unlock where the treasure lies?

Jasper's Cowboy Wish - Howdy pardner! Whyatt and his friends are playing cowboys, but Pig can't join in because he doesn't know what cowboys do. The super readers jump into the tale Jasper's Cowboy Wish and make the acquaintance of a cowpoke who's desperate to become a rompin' stompin' cowboy, if only he could get the hang of it! When Jasper must use his cowboy skills to save the day, will he be a hero...or will this be his last roundup?

In these stories, kids learn about geography, letters, and vocabulary. Kids also investigate the alphabet, practice spelling, use words and the power to read to change the story!  Here's a clip of the educational excitement that awaits you and your child:

I can honestly say that my daughter and I enjoyed each and every episode on this DVD and Riley still asks to watch this DVD quite often.  If your child is a fan of Super Why and the gang, then they will definitely enjoy the Around the World Adventure series of episodes.  What's more, there are even interactive games, music videos, printable activities, coloring pages, and resources for parents included on this DVD, so there's no reason not to check it out!

5 Star Review
Disclosure: I received the Super Why Around the World Adventure DVD from PBS Kids in order to facilitate my review. No other compensation was received. This product review is based on my own personal experiences with this item and is completely honest and objective.
I'm a former 7th grade Science teacher turned stay-at-home mom that lives in Houston, Texas. I am married to my college sweetheart and have a beautiful daughter named Riley, who definitely keeps me on my toes! I am also involved in starting a small business which would both manufacture and sell an invention that I've patented, called Toothpaste 2 Go. I love interacting with my readers and hope to learn as much about you as you learn about me!
