I've always found that Halloween seems to usher in the "sweet" season, and by "sweet" I mean dessert!  As soon as I dive into a bowl of Halloween candy, cookies and chocolate-y treats, I don't come up for air until I make those New Year's Resolutions.  Instead of trying to deny myself those pleasures of the season, I've finally given in to them and enjoy sweets in moderation.

Cookies are some of the best treats out there and I recently discovered a brand new book from Sourcebooks entitled, "The Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book" by Camilla V. Saulsbury.  Keep reading to learn all about how you can make over 375 delectable cookie recipes that begin with a box of cake mix!

I reviewed the Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book by Camilla V. Saulsbury from Sourcebooks, which retails for $16.99, but is currently on sale for $11.55 with FREE SHIPPING.

With The Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book, you'll find that the secret to some of the tastiest, easiest and most irresistible cookies imaginable begins with a box of cake mix.  With just a few extra ingredients and a mixer, anyone can become a baking genius!

The Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book from Camilla Saulsbury, winner of The Food Network's Ultimate Recipe Showdown Best Cookie Recipe, is filled with more than 375 recipes that start with a simple box of cake mix and end with a delightful assortment of drop, shaped, bar, filled and traditional cookies.  This book can make you the star of your next bake sale, family party or holiday event.

  • Bake Sale Bestsellers

  • Health-Conscious Cookies

One of my favorite holiday-themed cookie recipes in this book was the Chocolate-Peppermint Whoopies.  These pretty whoopies are just the thing to get you in the festive mood, especially since you're in and out of the kitchen in a flash.  Gather up the youngsters in your family for some hands-on fun, for they can help mix and drop the batter and spread and sandwich the whoopies with the peppermint frosting.  Afterwards, they can even decide what yummy extra will be stuck to the icing itself.  You don't have to only use candy sprinkles.  Add some extra flair to any cookie sandwich by dipping the frosted edges in the following:

  • Finely chopped toasted nuts
  • Crushed toffee
  • Crushed candy canes
  • Toasted coconut
  • Miniature chocolate chips
  • Chopped dried fruit
  • Crushed cereal
  • Chopped chocolate

There are so many delicious and scrumptious cookie recipes in The Ultimate Cake Mix Cookie Book, that I know I will be the hit of every holiday party, children's party and school function for eons to come.  I can't even begin to tell you about all of the yummy recipes that await you in this cookbook, which will take me years to get through...oh well, I guess I better get started!  I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!
