Imperial Sugar's Chocolate Chip Cookies:

(An exclusive recipe - tested and approved by the Imperial Sugar kitchen)

Baking Time: 9-11 minutes (depending on oven)

  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of Imperial or Dixie Crystals Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Imperial or Dixie Crystals Redi-Measure Light Brown Sugar Pouches (1/2 cup)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 10 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips (approximately 1 3/4 cups)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  In a mixing bowl, combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar contents of the Redi-Measure pouches, and egg on low speed for 1 to 2 minutes or until mixture is creamed.
  • Add the flour, baking soda and salt to mixing bowl and mix on low until blended.  Scrape edges of bowl and mix on low speed for an additional 1 minute or until completely mixed.
  • Blend in the remaining ingredients on low or mix by hand as to not crush chips and nuts.
  • Use a teaspoon to portion out cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet.  Bake cookies for 9 to 11 minutes.  Edges of cookies should be brown and tops light brown when cookies are done.

Yield: Approximately 24 cookies
