I've never seen a little girl more fascinated with shoes than my daughter, Riley.  I really think she has the makings of the next Imelda Marcos!  Because she is only two and her feet are still growing and developing rapidly, I must be selective in the type of shoes she wears so that her feet don't suffer the consequences.

Boumy makes genuine leather shoes which are designed to give tiny feet the sensation of walking barefoot without risking injury.  These shoes protect your child while still aiding them in developing necessary toe-gripping and arch-muscle skills as well as allowing them to feel the sensation of their feet on the floor.  Riley and I had the chance to review a pair of Boumy shoes.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the Rainbow Pink Genuine Leather Shoesfrom Boumy, which retails for $32.00.

Boumy

The Rainbow Pink Genuine Leather Boumy shoes we received were constructed of thick, yet very soft and pliable leather.  This combination would definitely protect little feet while still allowing maximum movement and freedom as they walked.

Orthopedic research suggests that "fallen arches" or "flat feet" occur more often in the more cultivated, western world. Scientists believe that there is a relationship between flat feet and the use of traditional footwear, worn by kids during their primary years of development.  In fact, there are orthopedic studies that suggest that the strongest developed little feet, are those of children that have learned to walk barefoot.

However, it isn't always possible to walk on bare feet. Therefore Boumy soft leather shoes are the ideal solution for the following reasons:

  • they protect the feet
  • they are flexible and allow free movement
  • they are flat soled, no heel
  • the rough leather finish underneath gives ample grip for slippery floors
  • the soft leather is light and feels pleasant
  • the elastic ankle fastening makes sure the shoe does not slip off

Boumy

The Boumy shoes Riley received were well-constructed and appeared to be of the highest quality.  The stitching and construction of these shoes were flawless.  Riley liked them immediately and loved how they felt on her feet.  She actually prefers wearing them around the house, like slippers, and always asks to put them on sometime during the day.  I really like her wearing them too, for she used to constantly slip and slide on our kitchen floor while running around and playing.

Since wearing her Boumy shoes, she hasn't slipped once.  These shoes are also perfect for wearing outside too, since the flat bottom ensures that dirt and mud won't be easily tracked back indoors.  The wide variety of colors in the Rainbow Pink Boumy shoes also seems to match almost everything in Riley's closet, so they are super versatile fashion-wise too.

If you have a little one between the ages of 0 and 2 years old, then I highly recommend purchasing a pair of Boumy genuine leather shoes for them.  These shoes have plenty of style, coupled with sound orthopedic design and comfort too.  You may find with Boumy, that your child may never want to be in their bare feet again!
