Hasbro GamesI love to play board games with my friends and family and can't wait until Riley is a little bit older so that we can start including her in on our tradition!  Hasbro is a name that I remember growing up with and the maker of several classic board games, such as Operation, Scrabble, Sorry and Connect 4.

I think these games will be around forever since they are just so much fun to play.  Hasbro Games has added a fun twist to one of their old favorites by incorporating a lovable, box office hero into the timeless game, Operation.  They have just released the new Operation Shrek Edition Game and I was fortunate enough to have a chance to review it!

I reviewed the Operation Shrek Edition Game from Hasbro Games, which retails for $19.99.
I can remember as a kid how much fun I had playing Operation.  Those little tweezers definitely made a 7-year old girl feel like a doctor with a real, bonafide scalpel!  I would hover over the game, usually with my tongue stuck out the side of my mouth in concentration, trying ever so carefully to remove what was ailing my patient when....BUZZ!  I would get the tiniest shock and it would startle the heck out of me!  I would laugh out loud at my own surprise and then try the same thing all over again!

I'm a real fan of the Shrek movies too!  I think they are a delightful set of tales that I actually went to the movies to see WITHOUT CHILDREN.  It is a great idea from Hasbro Games to finally mesh the classic Operation game with the new classic Shrek characters.  How fun is it to replace the original "Moe" looking patient from Operation with Shrek?  The maladies that Shrek is suffering from are also a lot more gruesome and fun!

The boring wishbone, broken heart and Adam's apple of the original game have been replaced by toe jam, humongous fungus and ear wax.  I guess that's what happens when you live in the swamp!  :) All of the rules remain the same, so all that has been updated is the patient and this patient is definitely in need of some medical care!  I highly recommend Operation Shrek Edition for your children, ages 6 and over.  A steady hand and 2 "AA" batteries are all that's needed for an afternoon of giggles and family fun!
