Wild Dill Green, Organic ToysAs most of you know, Riley is my only child and so I love buying her toys and cute little outfits!  With only one little girl, it's easy to get carried away sometimes, though I really do try not to spoil her.  It saddens me though, when I see all of the excess packaging on both her new toys and her clothes because the only purpose of this packaging is to try and lure consumers into buying it.

I also feel a little deflated when I know that her shiny new toy is leaving a pretty large "footprint" on our environment by using brand new resources, instead of finding creative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.  It's for this reason, that I am glad to have come across the Wild Dill children's store.

They carry only natural, organic, fair trade, made in the USA/Europe, or recycled clothing, toys, bedding and furniture for babies and toddlers.  I was very excited to give Riley the Wild Dill Green Toys Cookware Set and see if she loved it as much as I thought she might!

The first thing that impressed me when I received the Green Toys Cookware Set from Wild Dill, was that the packaging was very unassuming, with no extra flash or substance merely for the sake of advertising.  It also was made from recycled corrugated boxes, with no plastics, twist ties or cellophane included.

This is a great idea, especially for toys sold online.  You've already bought the toy, right?  So why do they need to include the extra packaging and fluff which is used solely for the sake of advertising and to lure you in to purchasing the toy?  As you can see, Riley was just as interested in the toy with this packaging as any other toy I've given her.

Next, we removed all of the pieces from the packaging.  I really liked how sturdy and durable these toys seemed.  They also had very inviting, bright colors that I knew would catch Riley's attention.  Honestly, there was no difference in the quality of these toys as compared to other plastic toys she currently has.

It was very hard to believe that these once used to be milk jugs!  Green Toys also makes sure that their toys contain no traceable amounts of phthalates or BPA, and are designed without external coatings so that they are lead-free and meet FDA requirements for food contact.  So just because the toy is recycled, doesn't mean that it isn't safe for your child.

Riley had an absolute ball with this cookware set!  I love toys which are mainly imagination based, since I believe that children have an enormous amount of creativity that these types of toys help develop.  She played with this the rest of the day and has been playing with it every day since.  I also like that since it is a tableware/cookware set, it is very easy to incorporate toys that you may already have into the set.  For instance, Riley already had a small tea party toy set which works beautifully with her new cookware set.  The picture below shows her inviting Dumbo to the party and serving him up some goodies!

There is only one recommendation I have to make the cookware set a little better.  Since it comes with 12 small pieces (4 spoons, forks & knives each), I wish that the stock pot was a few inches larger so that she could easily store the utensils inside the lidded stock pot.  This way, it would really help for these smaller pieces not to get lost or misplaced and makes clean up time a little easier, since the utensils would have a built-in storage place.  Other that that, I think that this toy is wonderful and any little girl will have hours upon hours of make-believe fun with it!

I highly recommend the Green Toys Cookware Set from Wild Dill.  I really love how Wild Dill only carries natural, organic, fair trade, made in the USA/Europe, or recycled clothing, toys, bedding and furniture for babies and toddlers.  My daughter absolutely loved playing with this cookware set!

It is also extremely versatile and easy to incorporate toys she already owns into the imaginative fun.  I was very impressed with the high quality of the toy and knowing that the packaging was minimal and made of recycled corrugated cardboard and the cookware set was made of recycled milk jugs made me feel good too!  So now you know that when your child loves something from Wild Dill, you can love it too!
