Rita Hazan I don't know quite when it happened, but sometime between my incessant salon highlighting sessions, I developed MANY gray hairs.  :pull hair out:  I've always had blond hair, which is why I didn't notice these pearly beauties earlier, but now, they're so plentiful that I might not need to get blond highlights anymore!

I'm only 35 years old though and so gray hair is NOT an option!  Unfortunately, running every few weeks to the salon is not an option either for it's definitely not healthy for your hair or healthy for your budget.  That's why I was super curious to try the Rita Hazan Root Concealer.  This spray-on formula will hide those nasty roots temporarily so you'll always look your best, even between salon visits.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the Root Concealer in Blonde from Rita Hazan, which retails for $24.00.

Rita Hazan Root Concealer

Master colorist, Rita Hazan, spent more than three years solving the biggest problem for every woman who colors her hair—how to cover up roots, especially those roots that start to come in just a few weeks after permanent color is applied.

Rita Hazan Root ConcealerThe solution?  Rita Hazan Root Concealer!  This temporary aerosol spray is both water and sweat-resistant and won't stain your face, clothing or bed linens. With just five shades personally developed by Rita and tested for over a year in her 5th Avenue salon, every woman can find a shade that perfectly blends with her hair color.  Just remember that this product is only meant to cover up GRAY roots and not the dark roots that un-natural blonds can get!

This product is a great fix for those last-minute special occasions that just happen to fall in-between salon visits.  Maybe your husband wants to take you out to a romantic dinner or your boss is having a company get-together, etc.  Any time you need to look your best, the Rita Hazan Root Concealer is there to keep those gray roots at bay.

To use, simply style your hair as usual and hold the can approximately 4-6 inches away and spray on.  The formula dries almost instantly and reminded me of applying hair spray.  It's not necessary to spray ALL of your roots, just the ones that are showing through your particular hairstyle.  That makes things quick and easy and before you know it, you'll be out the door with a fresh-from-the-salon looking hair color.

You also don't have to worry about any harmful ingredients, for the Rita Hazan Root Concealer contains absolutely NONE of the following:

  • Parabens
  • Sulfates
  • Synthetic Fragrances
  • Synthetic Dyes
  • Petrochemicals
  • Phthalates
  • GMOs
  • Triclosan

I tried taking pictures of my hair both before and after using the Rita Hazan Root Concealer, but I guess the lighting was bad, because you couldn't notice much of a difference.  I don't have solid gray hair though, so that might have been part of it and my gray roots actually blend at this point fairly well into my light blonde hair.  I could tell though that the Root Concealer hid my gray hairs as well as matched my current hair color quite well.

So if you'd like to keep your gray roots under wraps until your next salon visit, be sure to give the Rita Hazan Root Concealer a try.  It's the first one of its kind on the market today and can be found at the Rita Hazan Salon in New York or at Sephora stores nationwide.
