Here's a startling statistic: Only 6% of Americans get the recommended daily servings of vegetables.  Hard to believe that in the land of plenty, we Americans are purposely eating a diet with very few vegetables.  I'm definitely not finger waggling either, for I am probably one of the world's worst when it comes to eating vegetables.

If it wasn't for salads or my trusty juicer, I would get virtually no vegetables in my daily diet.  Thankfully, Birds Eye has partnered with the Share Our Strength "Feed Kids Better" campaign to help change those statistics for the better.  Keep reading to learn more!

Even though I am not a fan of vegetables, to say the least, that bad habit has got to change.  I am now a mother and want to be a healthy role model for my daughter, so that means that I better put down the macaroni and cheese and pick up a stalk of broccoli!  Birds Eye has definitely helped me to do that with their Steamfresh line of frozen vegetables.

I absolutely LOVE how quick and easy these dishes are to prepare, because as someone who never ate many cooked vegetables, I have to admit that I didn't really know how to prepare vegetables at first.  The Birds Eye Steamfresh vegetables taste much better than the canned vegetables I used to serve.

I also really enjoyed the "No Whine With Dinner" cookbook included in the Virtuous Veggies Gift Pack I received.  Although the selections seemed a little exotic to me, it provided a great springboard with which to try new, healthy dishes for both myself and my family.  This cookbook also included 7 Simple Ways to Get Your Kids to Like Veggies, which are featured on the Birds Eye Facebook page.  I must admit that I am going to have to try these myself, since I basically need to reinvent my own eating habits.

As a newbie to the vegetable eating field, I'd love to hear your thoughts and techniques with incorporating more veggies into your own diet.  As an added bonus, you can also enter to win a Birds Eye Virtuous Veggies Gift Pack too, which includes the following:

Good luck and let's all do better at eating those veggies!  :)
