Beyond CoastalNow that the weather is warm and the grass is green, my family will undoubtedly be outside enjoying it.  You see, I have a rather outdoorsy kind of brood who can always be found riding bikes or taking a walk around the neighborhood.

Couple that with Riley's brand new kiddie pool in our backyard and the fact that our local swimming pool is opening this weekend and we'll really be soaking up the sun's rays.  Because my daughter and I are both very fair-skinned, we slather on the sunscreen whenever and wherever we get the chance.  Of course, have you ever wondered what you're REALLY putting on your skin when applying sunscreen?

Beyond Coastal Sun Care Natural Sunscreen

We care what goes in our bodies, but a lot of the time, little thought is given to what we put ON our bodies.  For instance, did you know that sunscreen usually contains 80% inactive ingredients?  Any idea what's in those inactive ingredients?  Beyond Coastal uses clean and healthy inactive ingredients, leaving out empty fillers and fragrances.  Each inactive ingredient is selected to nourish, repair and hydrate.  It's total nutrition for your skin!

  • Real broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection supplied by avobenzone (Parsol 1789)
  • Natural nutrients: aloe, Shea butter and rose hip oil rebuild and restore the skin
  • Natural antioxidants: Yerba mate, green tea, and algae extract scavenge free radicals and restores skin tone
  • Pro Vitamin B, Shea butter and rose hip oil moisturize and maintain skin cell balance

Beyond Coastal Natural SunscreenYesterday, Riley and I went outside for a trip to the park, so instead of using our normal sunscreen, I applied the Beyond Coastal Natural Sunscreen Kids SPF30+ variety.  It protects sensitive skin with gentle broad-spectrum UVA/UVB ingredients, providing 97% UVB protection.  The active ingredients of the Beyond Coastal Kids Sunscreen were Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide with a list of inactive ingredients including grape seed, green tea, jojoba, aloe and rose hips.

I loved the light scent which definitely reminded me more of a skin lotion than a sunscreen.  It glided on my daughter's skin easily and absorbed well.  The only criticism I have of this particular product is that there was no listing as to how many hours of coverage this sunscreen provided.  I would have liked to know how often I should reapply, but all that was listed on the packaging and on the promotional materials I received was "reapply as needed".

Other than that, I'm pleased to be using the natural sunscreens from Beyond Coastal and look forward to plenty of fun in the sun, without any of the burn!  Here's hoping you have a wonderful summer too!
