I've been a big fan of H-E-B grocery stores for as long as I can remember.  They always have the best selection of meats available, as well as the freshest produce and plenty of easy ways to save money, without clipping coupons.  Recently though, I fell in love with H-E-B all over again because they made my grocery shopping experience just that...a true experience!

Primo Picks is a brand new program introduced to several of the H-E-B grocery stores in the Houston and San Antonio markets and I was lucky enough to sample many of these amazing products for myself.  What's a Primo Pick?  It's a hand-selected, one-of-a-kind, cool and unique product that you may never have tried or even heard of before.  H-E-B has scoured the globe in search of some truly world-class items and are bringing limited quantities of them to their stores.  Keep reading to learn more!

My husband and I love shopping at various outdoor markets or other kinds of stores which offer unique and unusual items from around the world.  Why should your grocery shopping experience be limited to the same hum-drum boring selection when a dedicated group of buyers can make your trip so much more enjoyable?!  The folks at H-E-B have really hit the nail on the head with their unique Primo Picks product selections.

Now, strolling the aisles at H-E-B can be a true shopping experience, for you never know what might be lurking around the corner:  a variety of strawberry ice cream with fresh grown berries from Poteet, Texas?  How about Italian cantuccini cookies from Tuscany?  You might even find a brand new vintage of bold red wine, called Chain Gang, that will perfectly compliment that succulent steak you were planning for dinner.  With Primo Picks, you just never know!

My family was treated to a gift basket containing many of the newest Primo Picks available from H-E-B and we were more than thrilled to go on this journey of the taste buds!  There was everything from organic truffles, to Cul-de-Sac Chardonnay to Specialty Barbecue Sauce and Italian Soda.  H-E-B Primo Picks don't just cover food and drink though.  They also sent along items from their beauty department and even a kitchen gadget like the small turquoise pasta strainer shown above.

I honestly was expecting to find many products in the Primo Picks selection we were sent to be adequate, but not extraordinary.  I couldn't have been more wrong though!  Every item we tried was truly fantastic and definitely exceeded our expectations!  I was bowled over at how well the H-E-B buyers did in choosing what was to become a Primo Pick.

For instance, my family has now completely converted over to the Michaels of Brooklyn Putanesca Sauce.  This spaghetti sauce is out of this world and by far the best jarred sauce I've ever tasted.  I never thought that I could find a tomato-based sauce better than Emeril's Roasted Gaahlic, but this H-E-B Primo Pick was amazing!  Even Riley, the pickiest eater, couldn't get enough of this sauce, as is evident from the picture above.  The H-E-B Bake Shop French Bread we received was also right on the money and complimented our pasta dish beautifully.

We thoroughly enjoyed the H-E-B Chocolate Chip Tub Cookies we were sent too.  They're just the right size for snacking, or for giving to a 3-year-old, and are made with all-natural ingredients and no artificial colors or preservatives.  Riley couldn't get enough and made a very persuasive argument for just one more cookie!

If you're lucky enough to live near an H-E-B grocery store that is currently carrying the Primo Picks products, by all means, take your time and smell the roses.  I guarantee that you'll love whichever Primo Pick item you choose to try, so be sure to try them all and quickly...Primo Picks are often available in limited quantities, so get 'em while they got 'em!
