HappiTapsEven though I love technology, I have to admit I'm pretty daft when it comes to using adult electronics for the purpose of entertaining a child.  I barely trust my husband to use these expensive devices, much less my toddler!

Apparently though, I'm in the minority here, for there are plenty of great products on the market which are designed to make "mommy's cell phone or iPod" much more kid-friendly and FUN!

HappiTaps is a combinatory effort from Infantino and Tipitap which has completely revolutionized the typical teddy bear.  Keep reading to learn more!

I reviewed the HappiTaps Huggable Smartphone Friend from Infantino and Tipitap, which retails for $19.99 with FREE SHIPPING.

HappiTaps are the first-of-its-kind toy/app hybrid.  A lovable teddy-bear friend that leverages toddlers’ newly found fascination with touchscreen smartphones and the classic comfort of plush, huggable toys creating a truly interactive, lovable companion.  The HappiTaps huggable smartphone friend is compatible with the iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch.

Beary Happi is the first HappiTap.  Kids will watch him come to life in a manner never before experienced in a plush toy.  They will love nurturing him, feeding him, and helping him go to sleep...or listening to him chat, share fun facts, tell jokes, stories or sing songs.  There's just so much that Beary Happi can do and it is 100% interactive!

Simply download the FREE HappiTaps app to one of your compatible devices and slide the iPhone/iPod Touch into the Velcro compartment of the HappiTap.  You've now created a kid-friendly teddy bear for the 21st century, designed for children ages 18 months and up.  My daughter, who is 3 years old, absolutely LOVED Beary.  She counted and sang right along with him and squealed with delight when he would eat, wiggle his nose or nap.  He reminded me of the then revolutionary Teddy Ruxpin toy of the '80s...except MUCH cooler!

The free app alone is amazing and I highly recommend giving it a try to see if your child likes interacting with it.  There are plenty of free features with the HappiTaps app, but there are even customized upgrades which cost a little extra, such as additional songs and stories and learning features too.  This is a great idea for keeping your child entertained when traveling or while waiting in line at the grocery store.  It's small size is also very convenient for tossing in your purse or baby bag so that you have this little guy available when you need him.

I also love how the padded plush bear kept my iPod Touch thoroughly protected from harm.  There isn't a covering of any kind for the screen itself though, so you must make sure that your little one is delicate with the bear's face while playing.  If you'd like a furry, entertaining and completely portable friend for your child, then I highly recommend introducing your child to Beary Happi and the HappiTaps app from Infantino and Tipitap!
