autrepeauI love the fall and the winter down here in Texas, because for once, you are able to follow a fashion trend or two and wear sweaters, jackets and coats.  Every fashion magazine shows the "layered" look of wearing shirts, sweaters and coats, but usually it is just too hot here to wear this kind of layering on a regular basis.  There's nothing worse though, than wearing your favorite sweater, scarf and jacket only to be itching like crazy the entire time!

I've never understood why a great looking sweater can be such a monster to wear, but unfortunately I have many in my closet that are just that way.  Not to mention, that most of these sweaters need to be dry cleaned after each wear, which can really add up over the length of the season!  autrepeau is a company that designs undergarments which will extend the life of your sweaters, make them more comfortable in the process and save you money too.  Keep reading to find out how this could be possible!

I reviewed the Long Sleeve V-Neck in Black from autrepeau, which retails for $46.00.

autrepeau specializes in making very thin undergarments which function to do many things.  You are supposed to wear these undergarments under any type of uncomfortable or itchy clothing to help reduce the irritation to your skin.  These undergarments will also act as an additional layer to guard against excess perspiration and because they shield your clothing more from your own sweat and body oil, you won't have to wash your outer garments as often, saving you money.

These undergarments are very thin, so you won't have to worry about adding a lot of bulk just because you are adding an additional clothing layer.  They claim to be a perfect layer under sheer tops and even help to hide the much-dreaded "muffin top".

The picture above shows the long sleeve V-neck that I reviewed, but unfortunately, I didn't look like the picture at all when I was wearing this.  The shirt is extremely thin and reminded me of wearing a shirt made from pantyhose.  What I was disappointed to discover, is that you can see right through this shirt and every bump, line and bulge from my bra showed right through as well.  I'm not exactly sure what the model in the picture is wearing under her autrepeau, but my bra stuck out like a sore thumb.  I also didn't get any help in hiding the "muffin top" like the website claims.

What I did get was a very thin shirt which made my skin feel much better under the itchiest sweater I have!  The autrepeau shirt was very smooth and silky against my skin and it definitely added a thin, unseen barrier under some of my sweaters.  This is great because there are many sweaters I have that I'd like to wear more, but don't because I don't want to pay to have them dry cleaned.

Sometimes when I'm getting dressed in the winter, I feel like Elaine on Seinfeld because I'm constantly asking myself whether the event I'm going to is "sweater worthy" or not!  :)  Now, with the autrepeau shirt, I can extend the life of my sweaters and my wallet by not having to wash them each and every time I wear them.

If you are tired of debating whether or not you feel like enduring the itchiness and scratchiness of some of your favorite sweaters or dress shirts, or if you are looking for a good way to cut down on your dry cleaning bill this winter, then I would recommend the autrepeau undergarments.

Personally though, I don't advise wearing any clothing with them where the autrepeau will show.  It is too sheer for my liking and doesn't hide your bra or any other bump, wrinkle or line very well, as it does in their website's pictures.

What do you do to combat itchy sweaters and clothing in the wintertime?
