K'NEXLooking back on my childhood, I can still fondly remember the days of playing with my Tinkertoys.  They were one of the toys that always seemed to hold my interest and even as an older child, I managed to keep creating new and interesting structures with them.

The really wild thing is that the Tinkertoy set I played with as a youngster actually belonged to my uncle!  He might have been almost 30 years older than I was, but he shared the same love of Tinkertoys that children for almost 100 years have shared.

K'NEX is still keeping the Tinkertoy tradition alive and well and now it's my turn to introduce this timeless toy to my daughter, with the Tinkertoy Vehicles Building Set.

I reviewed the Tinkertoy Vehicles Building Set, which retails for $24.99 at Target.com.

Introduce Your Toddler to Tinkertoys: A Time-Tested Favorite

TinkertoysThe Tinkertoy Vehicles Building Set is designed to encourage young builders to play and learn.  Builders ages 3 years old and up can create a truck, sailboat, helicopter and other familiar vehicles that actually move.  Of course, the brilliance of Tinkertoys is that your child's imagination can also create brand new vehicles the likes of which we've never seen!  The colorful guide provides a variety of ideas for all building skill levels.

The newly redesigned Tinkertoy pieces snap together and stay together for long-lasting play. You'll find the nostalgic Tinkertoy pieces you remember, plus unique parts such as bendable rods, wheels, a propeller, and eyes so that your child can add personality to their creations along with an adorable buildable figure to encourage imaginative role play.

The Tinkertoy Vehicles Building Set includes 78 durable, plastic pieces including spools, straight rods, bendable rods, wheels, a propeller, a buildable figure and more!  It even comes in a durable cardboard box with lid for easy storage and portability once play time is over.

Riley loved letting her imagination go wild with this Tinkertoys set.  I loved having the 10 included building ideas there in front of me to help her get started.  It's been a while since I've created anything with Tinkertoys and I must admit that my building skills aren't what they used to be.   :blushing:  We had a great time together making all sorts of wacky inventions, and once we built the Tinkertoy top, Riley played with it on the kitchen floor for what seemed like forever.

This is definitely a great starter set for any Tinkertoy fan, young or old.  There are plenty of pieces to really get creative with and a ton of ideas to start you off on the right track!

I'm a former 7th grade Science teacher turned stay-at-home mom that lives in Houston, Texas. I am married to my college sweetheart and have a beautiful daughter named Riley, who definitely keeps me on my toes! I am also involved in starting a small business which would both manufacture and sell an invention that I've patented, called Toothpaste 2 Go. I love interacting with my readers and hope to learn as much about you as you learn about me!
