The frequency of 80 degree days here in Houston is warning me that summer is on my heels. Around here, that means plenty of blistering heat and blinding sunlight. In my quest to lose my "winter insulation" I've upped my fitness regimen quite a bit and have been taking it to the streets of my neighborhood by running and biking.
I love how quickly running can help you to shed those unwanted pounds, but unfortunately, pounding the pavement or the nearby trails can be brutal on your eyes. Sunlight can reflect off of the sidewalks and roads and beat down on you from above, punishing your eyes. I've tried running with my regular pair of sunglasses, but have quickly learned that this just won't cut it.
I needed a pair of performance sunglasses which were designed to stand up to Houston's scorching summer rays. Thankfully, Julbo USA had just the thing...the Run Performance Sunglasses in Matte Black with Polarized 3 Lenses. Keep reading to learn more!
The trail holds no mysteries when faced with the Run. The Run boasts wide, anti-fog lenses, a curved frame, and shock resistant nose and temple pieces. There are currently five styles of the Run performance sunglasses from Julbo USA (shown below), which offer different frame finishes and colors as well as different lenses.
Running in Houston definitely requires superior protection from the blinding glare of the sun and so I was thrilled to receive the Run sunglasses in matte black with polarized 3 lenses that are geared for strong sunlight. These lenses work to diffuse light rays when they hit a flat surface, such as a car windshield or sidewalk, so that any glare is eliminated. The Run performance sunglasses also offer the following design features:
- RX - The frame can be equipped with corrective solar lenses.
- Sipe Grip Tech - Supple, sculpted inserts at the stem ends for excellent hold without sticking to hair
- Curved, wrapping temples - temples shaped and cut for better hold with sharp and repeated movements
- Wrap Around Coverage - Curved frame with wide temples to protect against harsh sunlight
- Supple shock-absorbent insert - Will remain in position on the nose
The Run performance sunglasses from Julbo USA were developed with the input of professional mountain bike riders, and are light and aerodynamic while still possessing the strength to handle your speed on the trail.
- Helmet-friendly: fits comfortably under any helmet.
- Coverage: wide lenses and curved frames for maximum visibility.
- Hold and positioning: shock absorbent temples and nose pads that can handle the technicalities of any trail.
I really enjoyed the wrap around design and comfortable feel of the Run performance sunglasses. These shades worked wonders while I ran or biked through my neighborhood and the polarized lenses were the perfect antidote to the bright sunlight. Unfortunately, I think my head might be a tad small for these frames because I noticed a little slippage around my nose and behind my ears. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with them.
I like wearing the Run sunglasses while I drive too and for virtually any outdoor activity...even shopping. I hate being blinded when entering or exiting a store and walking across the flat, white parking lot. I can honestly say that the polarized 3 lenses of the Run sunglasses diffuse that glare completely, which means that these would also be a great accessory for protecting your eyes while at the beach or even on a snowy slope. No matter where your travels may take you, the Run performance sunglasses from Julbo USA have you covered!
