DownEast Basics

I've always been quite the clotheshorse.  From as far back as I can remember, I've loved looking at fashion magazines and creating different outfits for myself.  Fashion though, can be quite expensive and I've never been raised with an abundance of money to go shopping with.

This is why I typically stick with basic pieces which will always be in style.  I love to look classy, yet stylish, and this has always been my goal when creating a look for myself.  This is why I am so happy to have found DownEast basics.  Their style matches mine exactly and all of their clothes are very reasonably priced, so that I can look great without breaking the bank!

I was sent the Sunshine & Rainbows dress from DownEast Basics, which costs $36.99.

Sunshine & Rainbows Dress

  • Printed knit jersey dress with cross-over neckline
  • Smocked waistband
  • A-line skirt
  • Polyester/spandex
  • Imported
  • XS-XXL

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the Sunshine & Rainbows dress from DownEast Basics.  It is one of their many fashionable pieces from their New Arrivals section.  The picture on their website doesn't do this dress justice.  It is absolutely beautiful, with very vibrant, colorful flowers against a subdued dark gray background.  The dress had gathering around the arms and neckline which gave it a slightly ruffled look.

I do not like ruffles at all, but this detailing didn't make the dress look ruffly, just feminine.  The top of the dress had a cross-over look which created a low-cut neckline.  The neckline was perfect though, because it was low-cut enough to show a little cleavage, yet not so much that women were covering their husband's and children's eyes when I walked by!  The dress had elastic gathering right under the bust line, creating an empire waist which slightly flared out into an A-line skirt.

I specifically picked this dress for its figure-flattering cut and boy, was I right!  If you've read any of my previous posts, I'm currently on a mission to lose 15 pounds that I've gained since weaning Riley.  I am very self-conscious about my midsection right now and I love that this dress helped to conceal my faults, yet still made me look feminine and sexy!  My husband complimented me several times on how well I looked in this dress!

The Sunshine & Rainbows dress is also extremely versatile!  Here are some pictures of me wearing it as a beach cover-up, but I could also easily dress it up with some heels and jewelry and wear it for a night out on the town too!  It also washes great and still looks as vibrant and colorful as it did when I first received it.  I simply don't have enough good things to say about this great dress!

The only criticism I have of DownEast Basics would be some of the pictures they choose to display on their website.  I almost didn't pick the Sunshine & Rainbows dress at first, because I couldn't get a clear look at the entire dress.  A lot of their pictures show a model with really long hair wearing their clothes and her hair covers up way too much.  I don't care about her very pretty hair because unfortunately, that doesn't come with the clothes!  :)  So in the future DownEast Basics, if you're going to use the pretty blond to model your clothes, please make her brush it back first!

I love the looks that DownEast Basics offers and their prices are also very reasonable.  They have some terrific tops, denim, dresses, purses and accessories that will jazz up any wardrobe.  I think this is a great place to get some stylish fashion staples that you will be able to wear for a long time at a price that won't put the squeeze to your wallet!
