Smart CoverIf there's one thing I rarely leave the house without, it's my foundation makeup.  Unfortunately, I have been plagued by a bout of acne on my left cheek for the last 20 years.  This area just refuses to clear up and I have acne scarring and redness on my best days and on my worst, it's an all-out mess!

I've tried numerous foundations and cover sticks to try and disguise this flaw, but I have never really been happy with the results.  So when I came across Smart Cover makeup and they were willing to allow me to try the Hollywood Make-Up Artist Kit, I jumped at the chance!

I reviewed the Hollywood Make-Up Artist Kit from Smart Cover, which retails for $59.75.

Smart Cover Hollywood Make-Up Artist Kit

There are two facial flaws that I cover every time I leave the house and those are my dark under eye circles and redness due to acne scarring.  I have never truly been happy with any cosmetics I've used because they are either too heavy and make my face look extra wrinkled, or they are too light and don't provide adequate coverage for these areas.  So as soon as the Hollywood Make-Up Artist Kit from Smart Cover arrived in the mail, I tore open the package and immediately started to apply their makeup.

I had the chance to review the "Light" kit, since my skin is very pale and unfortunately, I found only one tube of makeup out of the four tubes of Concealing Creme that would work for my skin tone.  I was able to use the Light Beige color successfully, though I wish it would have been a shade lighter.  I found out that Smart Cover makes a Rose Beige for pale skin, but unfortunately this shade is not included in either the "Light" or the "Dark" kits and must be ordered separately.

I read through the directions carefully and cleansed my face thoroughly.  Next, I applied some of the Moisture Primer Lotion which smooths and prepares the skin for the Concealing Creme.  Then, I applied a pea-sized amount of the Light Beige Concealing Creme and was astounded at how well this makeup was covering my problem areas.  The redness on my face immediately disappeared!

Now, I must admit that this makeup is very thick and pretty heavy, so you must start blending it right away or else it will dry in a clump.  I began blending the makeup into neighboring areas of my face with the included Camouflage Brush.  I could also have used a makeup sponge or my fingertips, but I didn't want to blend too much of it away so as to dilute the coverage.

If the Concealing Creme is not an exact match for your skin tone, you can also use some of the Color Corrector Concealing Creme to lighten the shade and blend it into your skin better.  I would recommend either using a tiny amount of the Concealing Creme or simply use it all over your face so that it blends well and doesn't look splotchy.  I was very impressed at how the makeup dried to a matte finish and that I didn't even feel the need to use finishing powder, although it is included in the kit to help "set" your makeup.

Next, I decided to try and tackle my dark under eye circles.  I used the included Smart Cover Stick in Neutral Beige under my eyes by gently dabbing a thin amount from the inner corner to the outer corner of my eye.  I gently blended this in using the Camouflage Brush and was once again amazed at how my dark circles seemed to vanish!

The only thing that I didn't like about the Smart Cover Stick makeup was that my eyes appeared more wrinkled with the makeup on than before I applied it.  So I might not look tired now, but I look old!  :)  Because of the wrinkles, I don't know how much I will be using the Smart Cover Stick under my eyes.

Smart Cover is definitely on to something with their Hollywood Make-Up Artist Kit!  Their makeup is very affordable and covers remarkably well!  I'm sure after I experiment with applying it more, I will really love the results.  I am very thankful to have finally found something that will cover my acne redness and scarring this well!

I know from now on, I will be wearing the Smart Cover Concealing Creme as my main facial foundation.  If you have birthmarks, stretch marks, acne blemishes or scars, age spots, sun spots, rosacea, or uneven skin tone, I think you should definitely give Smart Cover makeup a try!
