Now that Riley is getting older, I am much more concerned with how healthy we, as a family, are eating.  Meat is a great source of protein and so we include a serving of meat every day in Riley's diet.  Of course, preparation is key in determining how healthy any food really is and so I was very glad to have the opportunity to try out the brand new T-fal OptiGrill.

The Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes horse race held annually in Louisville, Kentucky on the first Saturday in May, capping the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival.  The race is known as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports" or "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" for its approximate duration, and is also called "The Run for the Roses" for the blanket of roses draped over the winner.

In addition to the race itself, a number of traditions play a large role in the Derby atmosphere.  The mint julep, an iced drink consisting of bourbon, mint and a sugar syrup, is the traditional beverage of the race.  This event attracts the rich, the famous and the well-connected and the women appear in fine outfits lavishly accessorized with large, elaborate hats.

Ruth's Chris Steak House is celebrating all things Derby with their annual Big Reds & Bourbons Dinner.  This elaborate dinner occurs in 74 locations across the country on May 2nd (May 1st in Houston, Texas).  To make this special dinner truly amazing, Ruth's Chris has partnered with cookbook author and celebrity TV show host, Joey Altman, to create a southern-styled menu that will make anyone's mouth water.

Are you a busy mom with a family that's always on the move?  These days, a hectic lifestyle definitely seems to be the norm and not the exception, which can make healthy eating next to impossible.  I love finding delicious grab-and-go options that are both healthful and portable.  That's why I was all ears when I learned of the new DOLE Fruit Crisps.

If you read my previous post about the disorganized state of my pantry, then you know what's coming next...the reveal of the newly organized pantry!  Pictures truly are worth a thousand words and unfortunately, they never lie.  Once I saw for myself just how cluttered my pantry was, I rolled up my sleeves, grabbed the Brother P-Touch Label Machine and got busy!

You may remember a few weeks ago, I told you about a date night I had coming up that I was truly looking forward to...the Ruth's Chris Steak House Taste of Napa Wine Dinner.  I have been having a hectic few weeks as of late and my husband and I were definitely ready to take a break from it all and relax with a night out that promised both great food and great wine. 

On Thursday, March 14th, most of the Ruth's Chris Steak Houses around the country hosted a phenomenal night of Napa Valley wines at their establishments.  Now, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know that much about the Beringer family or the Napa Valley breed of wines, but I always enjoy a tasty glass of vino and learning more about wine in general.  From the moment I took my first sip, I could tell this would be another amazing night at Ruth's Chris!
